     Tobin Capp’s sculptures are a unique reflection of his western lifestyle. He is a third generation Montanan, descended from an adventurous great-grandfather who pioneered the West. Tobin, like his great-grandfather, was called to adventure. With no frontiers left to tame, the rodeo arena stole his heart at an early age. While rodeoing for the University of Montana and attending their fine arts school, Tobin met rodeo judge, sculptor, and foundry owner, Bob Burkhart. It was a pivotal point in Tobin’s art career. 
    “After spending three days at a bronze sculpting school with Bob and artist Jeff Wolff, I discovered a new medium that I really enjoyed. I switched to the College of Business, and pursued my art education from people who were outstanding at representational figures, particularly the sculpture of anatomy.”
    Tobin Capp has been involved in every phase of his pieces from the creating of the clay originals to the molding, casting, and marketing; and he is often at the foundry to better his understanding of the entire bronze art business. 
    Tobin’s western art is also heavily influenced by his passion for nature and the wilderness. He spends an average of 100 days per year in the outdoors and says, “Woodsmanship is a tradition of my family and is the obligation of each generation to pass down to the next. I draw the majority of my inspiration from my time in the field.” Tobin’s quest to produce works that depict the natural movement of wildlife. 
    As Tobin has built his collection of works, he has felt an obligation to help others fulfill their dreams through his talent of sculpting. He has donated works to organizations such as the University of Montana Rodeo Team; the Miss Rodeo Montana organization; Ducks Unlimited; Montana Matters; Montana Wildlife Federation; and Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Montana. Tobin has been selected to the juried show at the Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson, AZ and has also been invited to show at the Western Masters in Great Falls, MT; the Phippen Museum Western Art Show in Prescott, AZ; and the Western Design Conference in Jackson Hole, WY. Tobin was also honored to have three sculptures selected in 2007 for the Calgary Stampede Trophy Bronze Awards, 2 sculptures selected for the 2012 Calgary Stampede Bronze Awards and in 2008, was commissioned by the Montana Ag Credit Union to complete a bronze relief to dedicate the new Ag BioScience Building on the MSU campus in Bozeman.  His works reside in private residences in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and througout the Southwest.
